Today, I went to see the White Sox play the Twins. It was a very fun and exciting game, especially because it went into 13 innings and the game was marked as four hours and 51 minutes long! I got to see some of the great players on the Twins, like Eddie Rosario and Eduardo Escobar, and I also got to see my favorite pitcher Fernando Rodney. The Twins took the W after many innings of trying and trying to take it, but the Sox put up a good fight.
The game was already shaping up to be a really exciting one. The weather was in the low 80s-high 70s, it was very sunny, and there weren’t many clouds. The pitching matchup was also very exciting. For the White Sox, it was Lucas Giolito and for the Twins, it was Jake Odorizzi. I took the train to the game, and on the way I looked at the lineups for each team.

Scoring opened up in the game during the 7th inning. Giolito was pitching a great game, but Logan Morrison stole his thunder by leading off with a mammoth 440 foot home run deep to left field, only a few rows in front of the concourse, making it 1-0 Twins. Adrianza came up next, and bunt grounded out to Smith, who threw it to Abreu to get the out. Cave then came up next and singled to left field. Max Kepler then pinch hit, and singled to right, bringing Cave to third. Kepler then stole second, making it runners on second and third with one out. Bobby Wilson then walked, loading the bases. Luis Avilán then replaced Giolito, and Grossman lined into a double play, with Moncada catching it and Kepler doubling off 2nd.
Scoring resumed in the bottom of the 9th with Rodney pitching. Davidson led off and struck out looking. Smith then grounded out, Escobar threw it to Morrison to finish it. Then Sánchez singled to left and Anderson got hit by the pitch, making it runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. Sanchez then stole 3rd, putting runners at the corners with 2 outs. Tilson then walked, loading the bases. Daniel Palka came in to pinch-hit for Adam Engel, and walked, tying the game at 1. Moncada then struck out looking to end the inning.
Scoring ended in the 13th, with Héctor Santiago pitching. Escobar popped out to Moncada and Dozier flew out to Tilson to start the inning. Then, Morrison launched a double to deep left, putting a runner on second with 2 outs. Santiago then intentionally walked Adrianza, putting runners on first and second with 2 outs. Cave then walked, loading the bases, and Kepler walked, giving the Twins a 2-1 lead. Joe Mauer then came in to pinch hit for Wilson, and flew out to Tilson.
For the win, the Twins relied on Alan Busenitz. Smith led off the inning with a single and stole 2nd, giving a runner there with no outs. Sánchez then grounded out, as Adrianza threw it to Morrison. Omar Narváez then came in to pinch hit for Santiago and struck out swinging. Finally, Tilson grounded out, as Adrianza threw it to Morrison to win the game for the Twins, 2-1.
